River West Chicago Real Estate Conditions
River West is a neighborhood located on the bank of the
Chicago River with its borders at Division Street to the north, Grand Avenue to
the South, Chicago River to the east, and the Kennedy Expressway to the west.
This community was once known for its produce markets, but
today is known for the small family owned institutions such as restaurants,
grocers, delis, bakeries, and florists that line the streets of this somewhat
industrial quarter. River West boasts some of the best fine dining in the city
with restaurants like the Butterfly Social Club and Avenue M. Bordered by the
trendy Wicker Park, Greek Town, Little Italy, and River North, there is never a
lack of things to do or see. River North is known for having a growing artistic
community, with galleries beginning to take over the landscape.
River West is considered a more moderately priced
option to its neighboring communities, but has similar amenities, proximity to
the Loop, and desirable architectural styles. Many of the old warehouses and
factories have been converted to offices, residential lofts, and two and three
flats. New construction town homes have also become a popular housing option in
this neighborhood.
