Pilsen Chicago Real Estate Conditions
Pilsen is a Latino-dominated community located on
Chicago’s lower west side with its borders lying from 16th north,
25th south, Halsted east, and Western west.
Although the community was originally settled by Czechs,
Germans, and other eastern Europeans, Pilsen became increasingly populated by
Mexicans in the 1950’s and topped out at 89% Hispanic in 2000. In recent years
the area has gentrified and diversified greatly due to its appealing
architecture and vibrant artistic culture. The community boasts some of the
city’s most beautiful outdoor murals the as well as many cultural art centers
and galleries. Little Village, Chicago’s largest Mexican community, is located
within Pilsen and has many Mexican restaurants, boutiques, and grocers to its
credit.
Large rehabbed single-family homes, two and three flats,
and luxurious brownstones line the streets of this rapidly gentrifying
community. Due to Pilsen’s recent popularity developers have taken on a great
deal of projects in this growing community.
