loop, which continues to live up to its nickname, “Gateway to Chicago.” This
community is bordered by Bryn Mawr to the north, Montrose to the south, and
Cicero to the east, and Milwaukee to the west.
This community is known for its family-oriented atmosphere
and suburban feel combined with city amenities. Jefferson Park, the
neighborhood’s namesake park, has a
fully equipped field house, playground, sporting and recreational activities
where residents of all ages can congregate. The park also features is
the all-volunteer Citywide Orchestra that performs seasonal concerts at
Jefferson Park for the community.
Jefferson Park has one of the widest varieties of types of single-family homes
in Chicago. 1950s Ranch style homes are
most common but the neighborhood is also home to Cape Cods, Georgians,
bungalows and frame homes. Grandiose Victorians from the turn of the century
can be found on side streets near the heart of the neighborhood. Although much
of the housing in this neighborhood is vintage, new condo developments are
popping up daily.
