Irving Park is located on the northwest side of Chicago with its boundries located with Montrose Avenue to the north, Irving Park to the South, Pulaski Avenue to the east and Kostner Street to the West.

The community is known for having city amenities with a suburban feel.

This community established its own park district 1910 including Independence Park where the neighborhood hosts its annual 4^th of July spectacle with a parade, athletic events, a concert, and fireworks. The 1980s marked a rebirth for the community when they established a historical society to preserve the community’s rich heritage and ornate Victorian architecture, some dating to the late 1800s.

The vast array of architecture ranges from Queen Anne, Victorian, and Italianate homes, to vintage farmhouses, and elegant bungalows.
