Edison Park lies in the far northwest corner of Chicago 13 miles from the loop and is named for inventor Thomas Alva Edison, who gave the community his blessing in 1890.

Residents have found in recent years find work, leisure, and shopping opportunities in all directions, both within the city and in surrounding suburban areas. This community features an outdoor street festival every year August 18, August 19 and August 20, which features local Chicago bands.

Edison Park is known for its post WWII architextural feel with brick bungalows lining the streets along with many small shops and bakeries.
