Edgewater is community bound by Devon to the North, Bryn Mawr to the South, Lake Michigan to the East, and Ravenswood to the West. With its expansive landscape and almost suburban amenities, such as wider streets, sizeable yards and friendly neighbors, Edgewater is one of the more family friendly neighborhoods in the city.

It is easy to see why Edgewater was first developed as a haven for summer homes for the city’s elite. With many parks and recreational facilities located directly on the water, this is a fun spot for families to congregate and enjoy each other. Downtown Chicago is a ten-minute ride away on Lakeshore Drive, so this is also an ideal spot for commuters.

Edgewater was initially built up during the 1920s, and has undergone several rounds of new construction along the lakefront and on major streets. This has left mixed housing with high-rises, condominiums, mid-rise multi-units and single-family homes.
