East Village Chicago Real Estate Conditions
East Village, formerly known as East Ukrainian Village, is bound by Ashland Avenue
to the east, Chicago Avenue to the south, Damen Avenue to the west and Division
Street to the north. This
community is just ten minutes from the Loop, a few blocks from the hip Wicker
Park neighborhood, and just East of Ukrainian Village. Because of this East
Village is a very desirable living location.
Like much of the near west
neighborhoods, East Village as been reborn, thanks to urban pioneers, artists
and entrepreneurs who were attracted by moderate real estate prices. With many
galleries, boutiques, and restaurants, East Village is becoming more and more
like its neighbor to the west, Wicker Park. Today, there still are some
opportunities to find affordable properties in this up-and-coming community.
Although many new developments have popped up in
the past few years, the neighborhood’s historic cottages, 3-flats, and
bungalows still exist. Several blocks in this community have been deemed a
historic district.
