Chicago Lawn Chicago Real Estate Conditions
Chicago Lawn, also known as “Marquette Park,” is a
community six miles southwest of Loop with its borders at 50th Street
north, 75th Street south, Western Avenue east, and Pulaski West.
The community is dominated on the southern portion by
300-acres of parkland, but developers have begun to make efforts to build on
this land. The presence of the stockyards brought in Irish, Germans, Poles, and
Lithuanians in the early 1920’s. This is reflected in the many churches,
religious schools, and church organizations that are scattered throughout
Chicago Lawn’s landscape.
Referred to sometimes as the “Bungalow Belt,” this type
of single-family home is the dominant housing style in this family oriented and
close knit community.
