Brighton Park Real Estate Conditions
Brighton Park is a community located on the southwest
side of Chicago and is bordered on
the north by the former Illinois & Michigan Canal and the current Chicago
Sanitary and Ship Canal, on the east by Western Avenue, on the south by 51st
Street, and on the west by Central Park Avenue and the west side of Corwith
Yards.
Brighton Park is primarily a peaceful residential
community with some commercial zones and industrial works and transportation in
the form of railroads and trucking. Former Chicago Mayor “Long” John Wentworth
built the community’s horse race track, which has become McKinley Park. Brighton
Park is conveniently located near the Stevenson Expressway, Interstate 55,
Chicago’s Midway Airport, and has access to the Orange Line “L” train into
Chicago’s loop. The European influence is highly visible in the community with
the Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian
Culture and the Polish Highlander Alliance. Although many European monuments
grace the landscape, the Latino population has increased greatly within the past
decade.
The community is a mix of single-family
homes, 2 and three flats, and some vacant land that is ready for development.
